This is a film that deconstructs the entire genre of horror. One of the most brilliant aspects of the movie is that it shows the audience that there is a logical and systematic reason behind why we see the same scenarios played out in all most all horror films. But ironically, behind this cooperate like system that orchestrates teen murders , is actually a mythical being that requires the sacrifices of specific character archetypes that we encounter in the horror genre. There are too many other great things about the film and is fast being an instant cult classic.
vlcsnap-2013-01-14-20h29m38s54Another film from writer/director Joss Whedon. This movie could have been a disaster, if it wasn’t in the right hands. But if you’ve seen you know that is it truly one of the best marvel films if not one of the best superhero movie of all time. For many fans this is a dream come true and currently the film has grossed over 1.5 billion dollars, making it financially the biggest movie of the year. I sure that mickey mouse is happy rolling in piles of money right now .

vlcsnap-2013-01-14-20h30m01s248Although I’m not a big fan of the 48 HFR and the 3D for me did not add anything to the film. But the Hobbit demonstrates that Peter Jackson still knows how to faithfully translate tolkien’s timeless work to a visual medium. The film at times feels drawn out but there are some truly epic sequences in the second half of the film. But this film truly shine when you watch the redles in the dark sequence. You really have to see it in order to understand how amazing it is and for me makes the overall film very special.

vlcsnap-2013-01-14-20h30m51s7This is Wes Anderson’s finest work. There is a level of artistry and precision in the set design and cinematography that harbors back to the days of Kubrick. Aside from the technical achievements, the story is simple and straightforward. I love the fact that the story is about trying to fit into the world, which is completely relevant to all ages. So this is for everyone and does never feel like a pretentious indie film as some may think it is by its appearance.

vlcsnap-2013-01-14-20h32m04s107One of the biggest surprises of 2012. Even if you have never heard of Judge Dred or been scarred by the 1995 film with Sylvester Stallone, have no fear, Dredd 3D is friggin awesome. First of all it mixes scenes of extreme violence with scenes of great beauty and grace. Another good thing about it is that it doesn’t tell this grand story of Judge Dred saving the city or the world as we have seen played out to death in pretty much all superhero movies. It tells a small contained story that resembles films such as the first Die Hard and The Raid. All you really need to know is that Carl Urban is without a doubt Judge Dred and uncompromisingly plays the role with respect to the comic book character. All the other characters in the film feel fully developed and real propose to the overall narrative.

vlcsnap-2013-01-14-20h33m11s40This is in my opinion the best james bond film ever. it is a testament to the fact that if you put extraordinary talented people both in front and behind the camera you will get a extraordinary film. The story is tight, the action is intense, the villain is menacing, and the hero is broken. in addition to all of that, cinematically this is up there with the greats. At times you can see Roger Deakin’s cinematography being the centerpiece of the film.

vlcsnap-2013-01-14-20h33m38s104Argo is a tale about a great secret american story. This film deserves to be recognized by everyone. And proves again that Ben affleck is not only a great actor/director but a master storyteller.

vlcsnap-2013-01-14-20h35m26s160This is the best sci fi film of the year. of course at times the film does not make any sense, but the film itself acknowledges that it knows it doesn’t make much sense. But like most great science fiction, the “science” is really not that important, it’s merely a device that carries that narrative. The film is demonstrated how the lines between good and evil are blurred. The film is about creation of villains, how certain circumstances can make good people do very villainous things. Many other things about the movie that are great including the ending which is really refreshing to see in a big budget sci fi movie.

vlcsnap-2013-01-14-20h36m23s246Is a great bookend to the what i consider to be one of the greatest trilogy of all time. Sure it may not be as good as the Dark Knight, but within it is nothing short of an epic film filled with emotion, pain and hope.

vlcsnap-2013-01-14-20h36m55s14This Is a film that tells you a story that supposedly will make you believe in god. Now besides the film’s main tagline, the main reason why this is my number one film of 2012 is because it is one of those films that goes beyond its medium. Importantly you do not have to be spiritual or religious to appreciate this film. Without going into too much depth, what you need to understand is that this film has universal appeal to all types of people at all ages. Never does the film preach or explicitly suggest how you just feel about it central theme, in fact it is in its open to interpretation conclusion that allows you to decide what you think the film is really about.

  1. I’ve been browsing on-line more than 3 hours today, but I never found any attention-grabbing article like yours. It is pretty value sufficient for me. In my opinion, if all web owners and bloggers made excellent content as you did, the internet might be much more helpful than ever before.
